In supervising the academic support areas, our mission is to ensure and to strengthen their integration into Vassar’s learning and teaching missions. In coordinating long-term planning for the college, the office promotes a vision of an educational community in which we collaboratively establish our priorities in keeping with a wide-spread understanding of the goals of a liberal arts education.
Marianne H. Begemann, Dean of Strategic Planning and Academic Resources
Marianne H. Begemann has been teaching at the college since 1985. She earned her A.B. in chemistry from Vassar College, and her Ph.D. in physical chemistry from U.C.-Berkeley. She served as Chemistry Department chair from 1995-1999, and as Associate Dean of the Faculty from 2007-2011.
Carlos Alamo, Associate Dean of Strategic Planning and Academic Resources
Carlos Alamo Pastrana is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Latin American and Latina/o Studies. His research and teaching interests focus on comparative racial formations and Afro-Latina/o intellectual histories. Since arriving at Vassar in 2007, he has co-chaired the Committee on Inclusion and Excellence and served on several other committees including the President's Title XI Advisory Group and the President's Chief Diversity Ad-Hoc Committee.
Dana Kleinhans, Assistant Dean of Strategic Planning and Academic Resources
Dana Kleinhans has been at the college since 1998. She previously held the position of Associate Controller under the department of accounting services.
